In high school in South Africa, Jireh received a scholarship that changed his life. That's how he ended up at the University of Minnesota. That kind of generosity, from people he never met, is what first showed him what philanthropy could actually do.
His first job in the field was as a development officer for the very institution that had made his own education possible.
A frontline fundraiser on the University of Minnesota's $4 billion Driven campaign, closing and stewarding six- and seven-figure gifts.
That experience wasn't limited to one campaign, or one seat at the table. He went on to serve as Director of Development for PACER Center, and has sat on nonprofit boards himself, including the American Red Cross and Our Savior's Community Services, while also chairing and serving as President of the Rotary Club of Minneapolis.
That's given him a rare double view: the fundraiser asking the board to engage, and the board member deciding whether to. Across both seats, he kept seeing the same three things, over and over: boards nobody had activated, good people who stayed quiet because they were afraid to ask, and strong plans that never left the shelf. Mission North Advisors is how he's paying that scholarship forward, building the systems that let more organizations do what one scholarship did for him.
Jireh holds an M.S. from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Marketing and Organizational Management from UMD, is a CFRE, and recently completed a term as President of the Rotary Club of Minneapolis.
